What happened to good ol' fashioned books?
The amazon kindle. Stores up to 3,500 books, has two months battery life and also has Wifi. You can buy the books online, and they will be delivered for your reading within 60 seconds. Each kindle costs roughly £111. Just another pointless gadget. What happened to just grabbing a book off the shelf. I see the kindle flashed around in my face everyday on the tube. All from people who look like they have too much money to throw away. I love reading, and nothing will beat just going into a bookstore, buying a book and turning the pages with excitement. There's something about actually flicking the pages with your fingertips rather than reading it on the screen and pushing a button to get to the next page. I like the idea of the Ipad. It does everything. It looks cool. It's like a more modern version of a laptop. Where the kindle is replacing a book, which is something that doesn't need replacing. I use the internet a lot. Clearly. But if my work was to be published in a magazine, I'd want to physically see it. I'd want to turn each page and feel it. Imagine reading Harry Potter on the Kindle. It wouldn't be nowhere near the same. Such an amazing author and you want to feel the book. And i dont think you can by reading it off a screen.. I understand it helps the environment. It saves trees, but there is something so magical about books. I like to feel that i am walking in to their world after lifting each page corner. It makes me wonder how popular the kindle is, because i dont think books can ever be replaced. They will never go out of fashion..
